Dippy egg designs

There is something so lovely about beginning a new notebook. I always flick through the empty pages and breathe in the smell of fresh paper, ready and waiting for me to jot down my thoughts, ideas and plans. The fact that I might already have five on the go would never sway me from finding a purpose for a new addition and when I picked up one from Dippy Egg last month, I knew I would fill its pages before long.

I was curious to know more about the talent and creator of my beautiful notebook and it wasn't long before I came across Lucy Daniel’s extensive range of products on her website. Based in Cardiff, Lucy is the artist behind Dippy egg, an illustration and graphic design studio producing high quality printed and handmade illustrated greetings cards, gift wrap and stationery. Only using materials from the UK, Lucy’s paper and card stock is sourced from a sustainably managed forest in the Lake district. Infact, every aspect of her design and manufacture process is ethically produced in the UK.

Whilst you are sure to come across Dippy egg designs in many shops and galleries across the UK, Lucy’s work can also be found in some of the more prestigious stockists such as Fortnum and Mason, Somerset House and the Blue Diamond Garden Centre Group. This year will marks Dippy egg’s 7th anniversary and what better way to celebrate than to spread the word about a talent that is sure to capture the love and admiration of many!

Lucy kindly sent me a bundle of goodies featuring stock from all four of her ranges and when these arrived, I knew these would be an instant hit with our family! There is definitely something for everybody here. From her watercolour budgies, insects and fish to her elegant range of ladies, i’m pretty certain there is no occasion that cannot be celebrated with Lucy’s designs.

Her other designs include these charming greetings cards featuring a range of little creatures. Now these have gone down very well with my little boy! I think it’s nice to have something a little bit different and unexpected in a greeting card and if you are looking for something unique, then these really hit the mark on that front. Again, I’m so tempted to frame these in our boy’s rooms, (seriously tempted!) they are clearly versatile cards that could be offered to celebrate any occasion with charm and difference.

One of my favourites has to be her range of fantastic watercolour drawings featuring elegant girls that take centre stage on her notebooks and greetings cards. I was lucky enough to receive a selection of these including birthday cards, a bookmark, notebook and giftwrap. They are so beautifully crafted, they’re almost a shame to use as I could see myself framing them or easily using the giftwrap as a poster on the wall- now there’s a thought!

For somebody extra special, Lucy has created a wonderful range of cards which express some lovely sentiments. These all come blank inside with a pretty silver envelope. From a considerable range of Lucy's 45 square card designs, I was delighted to receive these two gorgeous examples which say it all before the pen reaches the paper. Aren’t they just stunning?!

If you pop over and take a look at the Dippy egg website, you will quickly see just how far Lucy’s talent can stretch. Including professional illustration, photography, branding and book covers, she has an ability that knows no bounds and I’m sure we will all be seeing a lot more of her!

I hope you enjoyed this post and feel inspired to check out more of Lucy's designs at Dippy egg ,where there are plenty more goodies to feast your eyes on!

Alternatively, you can head to her Facebook page to see what she is getting up to in her studio.
