Cornish adventures

In recent years, visiting Cornwall in the summer has become somewhat of a tradition for our family. Even before we were married, we would go down to Cornwall with Eddy's family for the annual trip to get their fill of surfing, bodyboarding and beach days in the sun. Since the early days, this little tradition has become such a part of who we are as a couple and it's been something we've absolutely loved being able to share these last eight years.

This year, we decided to have a few days in a beautiful spot in Rock and, unlike in previous years where we have camped for two weeks, we jointly took a house we've stayed in before with Eddy's parents. This turned out to be the perfect location, especially considering the expansion of our families over recent years- we knew it would be big enough to house us as well as other members of the family who were able to join us for some time.

As it happened, we spent most of our time going between Watergate Bay, Polzeath beach and Padstow- some our favourite spots! I was so proud of the way in which the children seemed to embrace the adventure each new day brought. I should have known that if our sons were anything like their father, they too would be real beach boys and want to spend a lot of their time in the sea!

As this was the first year that both Noah and Jonah were old enough to really enjoy it together, we decided to buy Noah his first proper wetsuit so that he could 'be like daddy'. We took him down to the shallows where, sure enough, he caught his first ever waves on the bodyboard- A serious proud mama moment!

Jonah, our little scamp, didn't need any encouragement either. He was straight into the water without hesitation on the first day and just wanted to play in the waves alongside his brother and cousins. I am sure he would have been content for hours just splashing about and kicking his way through the waves as he went.

When I reflect on our time there, It really was such a lovely few days of watching our boys enjoy time with their daddy doing something I hope they will continue to enjoy for years to come. I am already thinking ahead to the next time we might get ourselves down to Cornwall, (as a family of five this time!) It just has such a special place in our hearts and it’s somewhere where we feel so disconnected from the trials of life. We can’t wait to get back!

Now for some photos…
