Hues of blue
I was looking around my bedroom the other day and it kinda hit me just how much I am drawn to blues and greys; it seems they are an inescapable theme in my life whether I mean them to be or not!
And, (quel suprise!) it would seem this unconscious trend of mine is not limited to bedroom decor either.
With this in mind, I wanted to share an outfit that in structure, I am OB-SESSED with lately and now have in some of my fave colourways and fabrics too. This one plays on my blues and greys with pops of metal hardware in there too. I LOVE it and haven't found a scenario yet where it hasn't worked a treat either! Be it a date- night, groceries run, or even the school drop off...you name it, it just works!
And that my friends, is testament to the enjoyment (and ease) found in making fashion work for you, not the other way around.
I really think this particular style is all you need to appear semi-put together and with minimal effort. The pleat- skirt (which hides a multitude) and jumper combo, pairs effortlessly with either flat sneakers or heels; taking you from day to evening in one, failsafe footwear exchange.
Aside from the wind chill that comes with baring legs in January (I never do learn!), this skirt is actually the most comfy one I own, great for hoovering the staircases in as well as eating an inordinate amount of pasta on date night too!
I'm clearly breaking all the rules wearing these beautiful velvet sock boots in BROAD daylight and out with my toddler! (behind the camera) But I just love the way they look along with a midi skirt and for the easy elegance they bring to an outfit that I would also happily pair with my vans sneaks.
When it comes to style, I have some formulae in mind that I apply to most 'out of the house' scenarios. One of these is the midiskirt and jumper combo which is one that I only wish I had discovered sooner because I'm completely convinced it works on any body. And it just so happens to be one of the easiest to throw on, especially if you're up before the sun and don't have much time (or light for that matter) to play around with! It's a no-brainer, easy outfit that makes me feel like I can get jobs done and still feel a little chic in.
I gotta say, after a winter of virtually living in denim, being able to switch heavy pieces out for lighter ones feels like a treat right now and I'm really excited to continue on with my midi-skirt obsesh this spring. It sure ain't going anywhere afterall- watch this space! :p
